Prosper is a desktop and mobile financial software connecting banks to payment gateways and financial service providers via a secure API. I came on as lead designer with nothing in place — no brand, no design system, no flows. The mandate was to build everything from scratch and deliver two production-ready prototypes across web and mobile within 16 weeks.

Brand and Design System
The first order of business was establishing a visual identity that could carry the weight of a fintech product: trustworthy, professional, and scalable. I developed the Prosper brand end to end, covering logo development across multiple variations and logotypes, a color palette built around Deep Blue, Nile Blue, Teal, and Leaf Green to communicate security and growth, and a typography system using Metropolis as the primary typeface paired with Conneqt for the logo mark. Every component — buttons, form fields, cards, error states, loading indicators — was built from scratch and documented in a comprehensive design system ready for development handoff.
MVP Key Flow
The core product challenge was designing a financial connection flow that felt secure without feeling intimidating. I mapped the full user journey from entry point to confirmation: Security Statement, Bank Options, Bank Selection, Log In, Connection Load Time, Account Selection, and Confirmation. Each step was designed to reinforce trust through clear security messaging, transparent data handling disclosures, and precise error state handling including OTP re-entry and attempt counters. The flow shipped across both desktop and mobile.
Design Guidelines and System Annotations
Because the design system was built from scratch with a small engineering team, documentation was critical. I produced detailed design guidelines covering responsive specifications, component behavior, color variable usage, interaction states, and edge cases. System annotations went further, specifying prototype behavior frame by frame including error handling logic, loading animation expectations, navigation rules, and copy review protocols. This gave developers everything they needed to implement accurately without back-and-forth.
Implementation and Handoff
I worked directly alongside the CEO and developers throughout implementation, providing revision support and walkthroughs to ensure the vision translated cleanly to the built product. The project was delivered on time and met all experience KPIs set at the outset.
Outcome
The project was designed and implemented within timeline, meeting all experience KPIs. Key takeaways from the engagement included planning and owning full project timelines and deliverables, building a scalable design system under resource constraints, and developing a close working relationship with a founding team to move efficiently from concept to shipped product.
